Our correspondent  reported hearing gun shots fired, just  as canisters of teargas were used. Heavy teargas could be seen flowing in the Federal secretariat area which  became a temporary riot scene, a correspondent observed.

Protesters  believed to be Shiite supporters moved in different directions as the clash with the police and other security forces  continued.

The clash  evidently distracted public servants some of whom came out to their offices and took vantage positions  to watch the clash far away from the melee.

The Shiite said they are demanding the release of their leader, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky from detention.
