#TrackNigeria: Mr Ayodeji Aluko, the Coordinating Director of Oye Local Government Area in Ekiti, on Friday said the military and police vehicles attached to the council had been repaired ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
Aluko made this known in an interview in Oye-Ekiti.
He said that the military vehicle had not been functioning for some months but the council decided to repair it to assist the officers to carry out their duties effectively during and after the elections.
Aluko explained that four new tyres were also bought for the two vehicles to be used by the police to equally motivate them to curb crime and violence during the election period.
“As the coordinating director of Oye Local Government, I give priority to the safety of lives and property of indigenes and residents of the community.
“The military vehicle has been repaired and we bought four tyres for two of the police vehicles to enhance their movement and to curb electoral violence during the elections.
“Several meetings have been held with them and they are ready to work with us to make the community safe. This is the more reason why we decided to empower them with the little resources that we have, ” he said.
Aluko appealed to the youth to be law abiding during the elections.
The director said that any youth caught indulging in electoral malpractices or violence would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law. (NAN)
