#TrackNigeria: The Presidential and National Assembly elections took place peacefully with no case of ballot box snatching  across the 25 Local Government Areas of Niger State.

The Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Sabo Ibrahim, said this in an interview shortly after monitoring the exercise in Chanchaga, Bosso and Paikoro Local Government Areas of the state.

“I have gone round to some polling units to see the conduct of the election and what I have seen so far is very impressive.

“The security is adequate and the electorate are casting their votes without any fear. In some places they have started counting votes,’’ Ibrahim said.

He said that the exercise was going on peacefully without threat to lives and properties across the 25 Local Government Areas and that there was no incident of ballot box snatching or thuggery.

Also speaking, Prof. Samuel Egwu, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, commended the effort of the security agencies in providing peaceful atmosphere across the state.

Egwu said that the presence of security agencies at all the polling units contributed to the success so far recorded.

“I commend residents for demonstrating political maturity by adhering to electoral rules,” he said.(NAN)
