Mr Sam Chinda, the comptroller in the state command, made this disclosure in an interview in Enugu.

Chinda said that officers and men of the command had undergone extensive internal and external trainings on election duties recently.

“Just last week, 100 personnel of the command had some days training on election duties in Benin; as the command fall under the Benin zonal headquarters.

“When they came back, early this week, they have to train or teach others in the command all they had learnt concerning election duties from the zone, as a sort of step down training.

“Some of my personnel have attended an extensive election duty workshop organised by INEC office in Enugu State,’’ he added.

According to him, each immigration personnel deployed for election duty will be given a copy of election code of conduct manual or booklet to act as a constant reminder on the dos and don’ts for them.

According to him, the Controller-General of NIS, Mr Mohammed Babandede, has said that the service will provide a dry meal for all the personnel of immigration on election duty.

“With the dry meal, no NIS personnel will have to leave their duty post on the day of the election to search for food.

“While the Service had made it clear to all of them that they should not collect anything from anybody, as they perform their election duties,’’ he added. (NAN)
