Yakubu Dogara (APC) has floored the All Progressives Congress,APC endorsed candidate Femi Gbajabiamila to emerge as Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives.
Dogara polled 182 votes while Gbajabiamila polled 174 votes in a keenly contested election supervised by the Clerk of the National Assembly.
It was yet again a tale of the triumph of the rebellious group within the APC.Dogara along with his supporters rejected the choice of Gbajabiamila as the party’s sole candidate.
After another round of voting, Yusuf Suleiman Lasun was elected as deputy speaker.Though he is of the APC, he was not the candidate the party endorsed for the post.
Earlier today the opposition ,Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP had announced its endorsement of Saraki for Senate President and Dogara as Speaker,House of Reps.
