DIG Haruna’s Death, A Tragic Loss – Police Affairs Minister

Minister of Police Affairs, Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade has described the death on Wednesday of Deputy Inspector General of Police, Haruna John in a helicopter crash in Jos as a sad and tragic loss, not only to the Nigeria Police Force, but to the nation at large.

Reacting the crash which occurred while the late DIG Haruna was on surveillance duty in the crisis-prone city, the Minister described him as a very loyal and patriotic police officer who was highly passionate about his profession which informed his meteoric rise in the Force.

According to Olubolade, DIG Haruna John would be remembered for rejuvenating the Federal Capital Territory and Benue State Commands of the Nigeria Police Force during his tenure as Commissioner before his recent elevation to the rank of Deputy Inspector General in charge of Operations.

He further said the caliber of Haruna John were very hard to come by and  commiserates with the family and the officers and men of the Force to accept Haruna’s death in the line of duty as his destiny and prays for the Almighty God to grant them the courage to bear the sad loss.
