Death of UNILAG VC, a tragic loss ,says Mark

President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has described as tragic the death of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Adetokunbo Babatunde Sofoluwe who died  Saturday  morning.

Senator Mark in a condolence message to the family and the entire management of the University of Lagos, UNILAG, yesterday said the erudite scholar died in active service to his father land.

He said Professor Sofoluwe, placed the institution on a glorious pedestal making it a toast among its contemporaries during his tenure as the Vice Chancellor.

“We have lost a gem. Late Professor Sofoluwe was a hardworking scholar, whose services in the development of the education sector cannot be overlooked.

“His vision for the University, (UNILAG) must not be swept under the carpet; his vision to build an outstanding excellence in the quality of staff and students  and position the institution among the 100 best Universities globally must be pursed until the goal is attained,” Senator Mark further stressed.

He said the erudite  scholar would be remembered for his brilliance and selfless services to the nation’s academic growth even as he urged the Sofoluwe family,the people and government of Ogun state to take solace in the academic and family values legacy that Professor Soluwe left behind.
