Death Of Activist Simon Abiodun Kolawole ,“A Big Set Back”-Osun Rights Groups

Human rights groups  in Osun State have  condoled  with the   government and  people ,in particular the family, friends ,associates of late human rights activist, Simon Abiodun Kolawole  who lost his life  in a ghastly motor accident on Sunday at Ikoro-Ekiti, on his way to visit his in-laws.

It was learnt  that Comrade Kolawole who was in the company of his wife,Mrs Cecilia Temitayo lost their lives  to motor accident.

A  statement  made available to newsmen in Osogbo and  signed by Comrade Amitolu Shittu , CDRP’s National Coordinator described the death of  renowned activist as a big set back to the human rights community in Nigeria, particularly Osun State.

Shittu  described the late General Secretary  of the  National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) between 1991 and 1992 as a dogged fighter,humane and humble in the cause of fighting for the rights of downtrodden masses.

Also  speaking in the same vein through a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo,the State President of NETNOS,Comrade Ibrahim Olayinka maintained that the human rights community in the state would surely miss the late activist for his perseverance ,contention, dedication and uprightness,saying that  his death was very unfortunate and terrible for the state.

Olayinka noted”The history of human rights community in Nigeria  would not be completed without giving the late activist a large space because of his immense contribution to the students movement and  restoration of current democratic experiment in nation.With his death,Nigeria has lost another rare gem and colossus in the cause of humanity”.

They later commiserated with the people and government of the State, families,friend associates of the deceased as they  prayed to almighty God to grant them the  fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

It would be recalled that until his death,kolawole was the Director of Ola Oni Centre,Osogbo.
