The National Orientation Agency (NOA) on Thursday took COVID-19 sensitisation campaign to some motor parks in Ibadan.
Mrs Dolapo Dosunmu, the Oyo State Director, NOA, led other top officials of the agency, War Against Indiscipline (WAI) officers and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officers to Agodi-Gate and some other motor parks in Ibadan metropolis.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the officers created awareness and gave COVID-19 prevention guidelines to the commercial drivers as well as commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators.
Dosunmu said it was no more news that the country was experiencing a second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
She urged the general public to abide with the COVID-19 guidelines during this festive season.
“This sensitisation/awareness campaign is a reminder to alert members of the public that COVID-19 is still with us.
“We shouldn’t relax or abandon the guidelines such as hand washing with soap, use of hand sanitisers and wearing of face masks always.
“People should avoid clustering, keep a distance of two to three metres away from one another.
“Avoid close contact with people sneezing, coughing or having running nose, cover your mouth while sneezing or coughing for the sake of other people around you.
“Commercial drivers, motorcycle and tricycle riders should ensure that they carry limited number of passengers to avoid close contact of passengers, while passengers should endeavour to use their face masks,” she said.
Dosunmu said that the second wave of COVID-19 had been spreading in many countries across the world.
The NOA director said the present situation in Nigeria required everyone to be involved, so that it wouldn’t degenerate to an uncontrollable situation.
She appealed to the management of the motor parks visited to support the awareness campaign by sensitising every driver and ensuring that passengers wear their face masks before entering the parks.
Mr Olaniyan Akinlolu, the Interstate Park Manager for Ibadan North-East Local Government Area, commended the efforts of NOA and promised to strictly enforce COVID-19 guidelines in the parks. (NAN)
