COVID-19: NCDC registers 9 deaths, 284 new infections



 The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has registered 284 additional COVID-19 with nine related deaths across 19  states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The NCDC made this known via its verified website on Tuesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the fresh indicate an from the 78 reported on Sunday the country.

According to NCDC, the new raised the total number of infections the country to 207,978.

It stated  that the FCT lead with 67 cases, followed by Kaduna State the North-west and Rivers State the South-south with 33 and 31 respectively.

“While State the South-east recorded 23 cases, Lagos and Osun states the South-west recorded 22 each.

“Also, South-southern states of Cross River and Edo, recorded 18 each.

”Ondo State the South-west recorded 13 cases, followed by three states the North-central: Plateau, Nasarawa and Kwara states, with 12, six and five cases respectively.

“While Imo State recorded four cases, Benue and Niger states recorded three and two cases respectively.

“Five states: Delta, Ekiti, Jigawa, Ogun and Oyo States recorded a case each.

The NCDC added that two states: Bauchi and Kano recorded cases on Monday,” it stated.

The agency also added that Edo State reported a backlog of 101 case recoveries which include community discharge.

The public health agency said that new registered raised the total number of the death toll the country to 2,756.

It stated that 195,626 cases have been cleared and discharged, while 9,597 were still down with the illness.

The NCDC that over 3,142,971 million samples of the virus from the nation’s roughly 200 million population have been tested.

It added that a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 2, continues to coordinate the national response activities.(NAN)
