After suffering several adjournments, the case between Oba Adebukola Alli and a female youth corps member has finally been concluded. Oba Alli ,the Alowa of Ilowa-Ijesa was accused of raping the un-identified corps member when she was serving at Ilowa town in Obokun local government of Osun state.

The monarch was arrested by the police and later arraigned in court but has now been discharged and acquitted by Justice Oyedeji Falola . In his ruling, the judge stated that the victim failed to convince the court beyond reasonable doubts that she was raped as she was unable to the show the court bruises on her vagina which is supposed to serve as evidence that her claims werejustifiable. He said however that the court was able to establish that the monarch and the ex corps member were having a sexual relationship before a misunderstanding ensued between them, adding that the victim was well known to everybody both at the palace and at the private residence of the monarch.

He futher accused the police of not investigating into the matter properly and condemned the traditional ruler for having sex with corps members serving in his domain, saying it denigrated royalty.

Mr Femi Adedokun, counsel to the state government and representative of the victim said that the government would upon advice by the attorney general and commissioner for justice, appeal the judgement.
Also reacting to the judgement, counsel to the monarch. Mr Taofeeq hailed Falola’s verdict.
