Clubs Scramble for Signature of Elkanemi Warriors’ Coach

By Raphael Ekpang
At least three clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League are scrambling to lure the Technical Adviser of Elkanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, Zachary Baraje into their clubs, Newsdiaryonline Sports reports.
Coach Baraje led the newly promoted Maiduguri based NPFL club to finish fourth position in their first season in the elites division. His technical-know-how to guide a newly promoted club to finish fourth in a highly competitive Glo league has opened a floodgate of interests among the clubs, especially those that struggled to keep their places in the league.
The Niger State born tactician has confirmed that some clubs have actually made enquiries of him. But, whether he will pick an offer that will take him out of Maiduguri is what is yet unknown.
Newsdiaryonline Sports reports that clubs like Lobi Stars of Makurdi, Nembe City of Bayelsa and Akwa United of Uyo are all interested in having the ex-Army Marine Officer in their clubs next season.
However, Elkanemi Warrioirs National Coordinator Usman Kawajafa alias Warrior has said that Coach Bareje is going nowhere, adding that the club will do all within it powers to
keep him. According to him, “Coach Bareje has not informed any club that he wants to leave Elkanemi, he is happy here and wants to take the team to continental (level) at the end of next season, so no club should waste time trying to lure him out of Maiduguri because they won’t succeed,” he said.
