Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and former Governor of Enugu State Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo has described as huge loss the death of Senator Uche Chukwumerije.
Dr Nwodo said that the three term Senator of Abia North was a patriotic and dogged fighter whose contributions to national development are immeasurable.
He would be greatly missed by many including, family, the People’s Democratic Party, Ndigbo, the Senate, Abia state and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
While condoling the family, friends and associates for the loss, Dr. Nwodo said that they should find solace in the fact that Senator Chukwumerijie left a chequered political career that will be treasured for a long time to come.
His contributions to the growth of democracy in the country will be remembered for generations especially his role in halting the third term campaign. History certainly will reserve many positive pages on the big impact he made in the twelve years he spent in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
As a former Information Minister, he made even bigger contributions to the country and my fervent prayer is that God Almighty will give his family the strength to bear the irreparable loss of this great believer in Nigerian unity. Nwodo said.
