Chinese Envoy Commissions Kano-China Bilingual College, Salutes Kwankwaso

chinese ambassadorChinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Gu Xian Jie has said that the establishment of Chinese Biligual College in Kano would promote cultural and economic ties between the two countries.

Commissioning the Kano – China Bilingual College at Kwankwaso town, Madobi local government area of Kano state, Mr. Jie said government of China and its Embassy in Nigeria are very proud of the initiative, adding that “this college shows a symbol of cultural relationship between people of China and Nigeria.”

The Ambassador assured that the Chinese government and embassy would assist in sustaining the college, adding that people of China would continue to promote the partnership with the people of the state.

“On behalf of Chinese government, myself and our embassy in Nigeria we congratulate you on the commencement of Chinese Bilingual College and best wishes to the school,” he maintained, hoping that students of the school that would learn Mandarin would be good friends of the Chinese people and worthy ambassadors of Nigeria.

On his part, Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso explained that the establishment of the college is part of his administration’s  policies of human development, adding that the government is very delighted over the collaboration with Chine government for making the school project a reality.

“The establishment of this particular college is one of such people-oriented policies and programs of our administration,” Kwankwaso stressed, pointing out that the school was initiated to make citizens of Kano more prepared to avail themselves of present and future opportunities as well as be better equipped with the necessary tools and value added skills to meet business demands.

“Kano, being the centre of commerce with the highest population in Nigeria has attracted business people from around the world. China is one such country that has it citizens doing businesses in Kano, therefore, learning Chinese is very important for the people of the state as it would help provide foundation, true understanding and connection with the culture of Chinese people”, the governor stated.

He said 28 teachers from the state were thought Chinese language by two Chinese tutors under a special one-year study programme locally, explaining that after completion of the course, they were sponsored to China by the state government for an additional two month course to make more resourceful in the language.

Kwankwaso disclosed that the trained teachers as well as some Chinese tutors are to teach at the new college, explaining that on completion of the six year course, students of the school would have opportunity to travel to China for post secondary education.

Two of the indigenous teachers of the school, Malam Habibu and Ibrahim Aminu respectively thanked the state government for sponsoring them to study Chinese, assuring that they would make sure that their students become skilled at the language.
