Cashier in court for allegedly stealing N270,000



 A 30-year-old cashier, Felix Joseph, on Tuesday, appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, allegedly stealing company’s N270,000.

Joseph, who resides at Ipaja area of Lagos, facing a charge of stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Ajayi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 15, at Oregun area of Ikeja.

Ajayi said that the defendant stole the money belonging to the complainant, Mrs Olayinka Akinola.

“The defendant stole the money, being the proceeds from the day’s sales.

“He was apprehended and handed over to the police,” the prosecutor said.

Ajayi said the offence contravened Section 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 (7) stipulates seven years jail stealing from one’s employer.

The , Mrs A.S Odusanya, granted the defendant  bail of N100,000 two sureties in like sum.

Odusanya said that the sureties should be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case until April 13 mention.(NAN)
