A 48-year-old car dealer, Ken Nkerege was on Monday docked before a Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly defrauding a clergyman of N2..4million.
Nkerege whose address is not given, is charged with fraud and theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Clement Okuiomose, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometimes 2019, in Badagry area of Lagos.
Okuiomose said that the defendant allegedly sold a Toyota Lexus put in his care for N2.4m and refused to give the owner, Pastor Favour Osazuwa the money.
The prosecutor said that the defendant converted the N2.4m to his own use, knowing the same the money was not his own.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 314 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates three years’ jail term for stealing.
The Chief Magistrate, Fadaunsi Adefioye, granted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adefioye said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction with evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State government.
The chief magistrate adjourned the case until March 30, for mention. (NAN)
