The Director General of the Buhari 2015 Support Group Center, Alhaji Umaru Dembo, has congratulated the governor -elect of Osun state, Rauf Aregbesola on his well-deserved victory at Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
In a statement signed by the Secretary of group, Dr Ibrahim Dauda, the D G. equally expressed solidarity and felicitations with the people of Osun state for their dogged and determined resolve to return a performing governor, not as a compensation or reward to the governor but as their own way of showing that they appreciate the record of the governor and would wish him to continue in his massive development strides in the state.
Alhaji Dembo notes that, in spite of the intimidating presence of different security and para-military forces in the state, the people eschewed fear, cast off financial inducements and cast their votes in line with good conscience and the civic responsibility of supporting a responsible and responsive government.
“This came against the backdrop of the massive monetization of the process by the opposition and bogus boasts and threats by the opposition candidate, that he would win without outlining any programme. Osun people”, the statement said.
Alhaji Dembo asserted with the result of the election, “the electorate in the state, had shown that they are not for sale and have risen above deception by later day lovers who showered them with food and cash”.
The DG called on the governor- elect to see his well fought victory as an express work of God who gives power to whom he decides. He advised the governor therefore to use this social capital provided by the people to deepen the democratic vision of a people oriented policy platform that has transformed life in Osun occasioned by countless kilometers of roads, hospitals, schools and the world acclaimed school feeding programme (O’ meal) being studied by countries such as Britain.
“With this, we are sure the culture of social service would be institutionalized in the state and emulated by other states in the country”,Alhaji Dembo said. He used his congratulatory message also, to call on the people of Osun and the entire members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to replicate the gallant action of turning out en mass to vote for the party in 2015, as the presidential poll approaches, expressing the confidence that the people will equally vote en mass for another grass root man to carry out the much needed security and welfare of the Nigerian people.
“The people’s support in forming the central government is essential in the overall development of the people and the state. It is therefore in the best interest to back another competent and morally virtuous leader at the center to form the much needed synergy for the attainment of the “common good” in the Nigerian society”, he asserted.
Concluding his message, the DG of the Support center praised Nigerians for their prayers and best wishes for the APC during the election especially, activists and online bloggers who made the entire process transparent and difficult to manipulate and asked them to mobilize for a positive and constructive change in 2015 when the progressives come on board to institute policies that center around the masses such as Mass housing, health insurance, free and compulsory education, human rights and social security, aimed at empowering the people socially and economically, to achieve their life goals.
