Former Head of State and Chieftain of All Progressives Congress,APC ,General Muhammadu Buhari has urged Nigerian politicians to always give priority to their conscience and integrity as they participate in politics.
Buhari said this in Kaduna, while presenting a certificate of honour to Afolabi Jimoh Olawole, “winner” Kwara state by the state’s electoral commission declared for the councillorship seat for Shawo South-west ward in Offa local government area .Jimoh later disowned the victory awarded to him.
He said though he ran for the seat on the platform of the PDP, he lost to his APC counterpart, Kayode Adefioye Kabir .He would therefore not accept to be sworn into a seat he never won at the polls for religious reasons.
Also, a similar award was presented to Akeem Oyetunde, the adhoc officer for Shawo central ward who cried out against false results that were announced for his ward.
General Buhari said he was impressed with their behaviour, and urged politicians and youths across the country to emulate the two citizens for their virtuous acts.
Reports said Mr. Olawole is now receiving several threat messages from leadership of the PDP for betraying the party. This threat has driven him away from the state.
