Boko Haram:Shettima Decries Attack on Damboa ,Donates 5 Million ,Vehicles to Civilian JTF

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State has described the attack last week’s attackon Damboa as barbaric and unreligious/unIslamic.He made this remark while condoling victims in Damboa town where properties worth millions of naira and over 40 lives were lost during the incident
He also said that government was very much concerned of their plight as what happened to them has not only affected the people of the state but the country at large He assured that everything would be done within the power of the state government to ameliorate their sufferings.
The governor further appealed to the people of the area to unite and cooperate with one another for the overall development of the area and the state as a whole while commending the people for not fleeing their homes because of the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents.
Commending the courage of the Civilian JTF in the area for confronting the Boko Haram terrorists face to face during the attack, he said, “Government is working out modalities to create job opportunities for the youths to enable them earn a living after the restoration of peace, law and order in the state”.
He also announced that food items will soon be distributed to them to cushion their suffering through a committee that will comprise of people of the area of proven integrity to handle the distribution of the items among others.
Governor Shettima revealed also that government is poised to provide the area with basic social amenities but emphasized the need for the people to rally round government for more developmental programmes.
Earlier, the Borno State House Of Assembly member representing Damboa LGC, Alhaji Ayamu Lawan Gwasha disclosed that already the state government has provided 2 trucks of bags of rice for distribution to the people and the items are on the way to Damboa town.
He also said that the 2 trucks are meant for all and sundry irrespective religious, political and ethnic affiliation or differences.He noted that the incident has affected everybody in the area including the farmers who were prevented from cultivating their farmlands as a result of the activities of the Boko Haram terrorists making the farmers helpless and hopeless.
The lawmaker also announced that Governor Shettima in appreciation of the activities of the Vigilante Groups in the area and as encouragement to the Civilian JTF, donated 2 Hilux Vans or vehicles to enable them perform their voluntary work effectively along with a cash donation of N 5 million as logistics for the entire civilian JTF members in the area.
