Boko Haram : Adamawa Community Seeks ‘Additional Measures’ To Restore Normalcy

Abuja –based Adamawa Community Association has urged the Federal Government and other stakeholders  to take additional measures to end Boko Haram attacks in the  northern part of Nigeria.

The association while commiserating with all  those affected by the incursion of Boko Haram into Adamawa North Senatorial District in particular and the North-East Geo-Political Zone in general,  called on “the Federal Government, Adamawa State Government and all other relevant authorities to take additional measures to ensure that peace and normalcy returns to the areas as soon as possible.”

A press release by Alhaji Sali Isa Bello  and Ibrahim Modibbo , president  and secretary general of Adamawa Community Association on Sunday , FCT Chapter said, “Concerned with the incursion of the Boko Haram insurgents into the Adamawa North Senatorial District in particular and the North-East Geo-Political Zone in general, the Adamawa Community Association, FCT Chapter wishes to commiserate with all persons affected by the disturbances especially those who lost loved ones and properties arising from the activities of the insurgents.

“ While noting the effort of Government aimed at addressing the situation, the association calls on the Federal Government, Adamawa State Government and all other relevant authorities to take additional measures to ensure that peace and normalcy returns to the areas as soon as possible.”

But the group did not list what extra measures it expects the stakeholders to take.Already,Adamawa,Borno and Yobe states,worse hit by Boko Haram insurgency have been under emergency rule for months now.

FCT-based Adamawa community said further,“We also call on all citizens of Adamawa State and indeed all well-meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the displaced people by donating in cash and kind through the appropriate Government Agencies, Non-Government Organizations, Faith Based Organizations and Civil Society Organizations etc, towards the amelioration of the plight of our brothers affected by these disturbances.

The association  also joined “all Nigerians in praying for an end to this insurgency in particular and other man-made disasters in general.”
