APC to Akeredolu: Your doctorate award, long overdue

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, has described the conferment of the Doctor of Laws (Honorary Causa) on Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the state as deserving and long overdue.

This is contained in a statement issued in Akure on Saturday by Mr Alex Kalejaye, the Publicity Secretary of the party in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Akeredolu was decorated with the award on Saturday by Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo.

He was appreciated for his contributions toward humanity and the development of the Nigerian society in different spheres of influence.

The statement, which described the governor as performing, said that the party was grateful to the management of the university for spotting the vital gap for appropriate decision.

“The party congratulates Mr Governor, the government of Ondo State, the Nigerian Bar Association and the informed people of Ondo State on the well-deserved honour.

“The award, no doubt, is in recognition of Arakunrin Akeredolu’s selfless contributions to the development of jurisprudence in Nigeria, enhancement of human rights, and his avowed commitment to good governance.

“In a society where political leaders seek attention and curry recognition, the legal giant’s preoccupation is to work for the betterment of humanity and posterity. He neither craves accolades nor seeks commendations,” it stated.

The party, through the statement, noted and appreciated the massive investments of the state government in roads and bridges, industrial expansion, health and agriculture.

It said that these achievements, under the leadership of Akeredolu, in less than five years, were unbeatable anywhere in the country.

According to the statement, the APC in the state is convinced that the enviable recognition will spur the governor to further amplify his campaign for justice, fairness, equity and selfless service in the public sphere. (NAN)
