Anangs disown Akpabio, drum support for Jonathan

akpabioThe Anang tribe of Akwa Ibom state yesterday disowned their kinsman Governor Godswill Akpabio accusing him of ridiculing the whole tribe by “his latest political antics that are divisive by nature.”.
Making the accusation at a press conference in Abuja, Mr Idahosa Edet Ekanhem, leader of the Anang Reclamation Movement, said the entire tribe is unhappy with the way the Governor goes about tarnishing the image of the Ibibio, a major stakeholder in Akwa Ibom.
“Mr Akpabio should know that by extending his uncalled for feud with the former Secretary to the State Government Umanah Umanah to the entire Ibibio tribe, he has also endangered the Anang’s political future,” said Ekanhem.
The group leader who described Akpabio’s approach to issues as very unstatesmanlike, said the Anang tribe will find it hard to forgive the disappointment wrought unto it by engaging a major political tribal group in an unprovoked hostility.
“We are indeed very much disappointed in our son’s approach to issues which smack of political intolerance that will in the end rub on the entire Anang tribe,” Ekanhem said. The group then pledged an unwavering support for President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration and his transformation agenda.
They urged the President to regard the entire tribes in Akwa Ibom as one indivisible family that is solidly behind him and shall remain so through thick and thin.
“Mr President should be assured that all the tribes in Akwa Ibom speak with one voice and are solidly behind him contrary to the dark picture painted by the Governor and his men,”said Ekanhem.
