Amaechi, Correspondents’ Chapel Condole With Families Of Dana Air Crash Victims

Rivers State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi has condoled with families of victims of the Dana air disaster in Lagos.In a statement signed by its Press Secretary, Mr. David Iyofor and made available to Newsdiary online, Amaechi described the incident as heart rending and a tragic loss to Nigeria and Nigerians.He prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased persons and courage for their families to bear the loss.

“It is indeed a tragic time in the lives of all Nigerians. And as we mourn, let us also remember to pray for the families of victims of the crash.”

“It’s so sad that such a disaster could visit us again as a nation after the gruesome experiences of the past. We pray that this does not happen again; and stern measures must be taken by all relevant authorities to make sure that this does not reoccur,” Amaechi said.

In a related development, The Federated Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Rivers State Council deeply commemorate with the families of the 153 persons who died in the Dana Airlines plane crash in Lagos at the Weekend.A statement issued by the Chairman and Secretary of the Chapel, Terver Akase and Secretary, Chris Eze, urges the government to carry out an overhaul of the aviation sector and compel airline operators to either acquire new aircrafts or stop  their operations.

The Chapel also wants the authorities to show serious commitment to the fight against terrorism and the insurgency in some parts of the country.The Correspondents Chapel prays God to grant victims of the air disaster eternal rest.
