The Joe Ajaero faction of Nigeria Labour Congress has condoled with the Nigeria Police Force on the death of former Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Muhammadu Dikko Yusuf
Ajaero in a statement said “On behalf of the National Executive Council (NEC) of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the generality of our members nationwide, we express our grief and solidarity with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on the death of a former Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Muhammadu Dikko Yusuf who reportedly died on April 1, 2015, aged 84 years.
“We recall that late M.D. Yusuf was the third indigenous Inspector-General of Police. He served between 1975 and 1979. After his retirement from the police, he held various national appointments. He was appointed Chairman of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Ltd (NLNG) in 1994, and Chairman, Central Working Committee, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), a northern cultural and Socio-political association in 2001.
The statement which said Yusuf was an activist retired officer recalled that “the late IG stood for freedom and Justice at the time it was risky to do so. He audaciously formed alternative political party and even offered himself as an alternative presidential candidate when members of political class were outdoing each other to “adopt’ the late dictator; Sanni Abacha as the sole candidate. Late M.D. Yusuf was a Presidential candidate on the platform of the Grassroots Democratic Movement (GDM) and Movement for Democracy and Justice (MDJ) in Nigeria, respectively. He was truly a democrat and an African compatriot.
Also, Ajaero said “We heartily commiserate with the family of the deceased in particular, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the government and good people of Katsina State and the entire country he diligently served for many years in various capacities.
He prayed that “Almighty Allah grant the departed soul eternal rest and give us the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
