Dr. Anthony Chidi Brains Agbazuere, one of Nigeria’s leading human rights lawyers and labour activist, has called on all Nigerians to respect the sanctity of the office of the Nigerian president.

He has also appealed to Nigerians, irrespective of their political, ethnic and religious inclinations to stop the use of intemperate expressive thoughts in reacting to President Goodluck  Ebele Jonathan and not take his simplicity for granted.

Dr. Agbazuere, who is the President of Global Centre for Peace and Justice, a Non-Governmental Human Rights Organization expressed these views while speaking to journalists in Umuahia, the Abia State capital Sunday.

Dr. Agbazuere,  said the fact that President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has or possesses a very simple, cultured and disciplined personality disposition that is not given to rowdy behaviour, should not give some Nigerians the impetus or audacity to insult the president.

According to him they can offer alternative views to issues on political governance which they do share or agree with, without resorting to the use of insulting language.

This is even as he called on the leadership of the Nigerian Governor’s Forum to reconsider the position it took on calling for the scraping of the Local Government Council system in Nigeria.

Dr. Agbazuere, said much as the call to scrap the Local Government Administration in Nigeria may not be the postion of all the governors but the views of some, the move he said is most appalling and unfortunate.

He said “we condemn in very strong terms any attempt by the Nigeria Governors forum to undermine President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as Nigeria’s foremost political leadership figure or the office of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He said governors who’s views support the scraping of the Local Government System in Nigeria must avoid acts that are capable of causing  revolution in Nigeria.

“Nigerians must stop being cowards and speak out by emulating the likes Chief Edwin K. Clark, who has shown consistency in speaking out against matters or issues that will not promote the ethos of Patriotism, Nationalism and Unity” he said.

Dr. Agbazuere added that  inspite of the lines of derogatory comments against President Jonathan’s development administrative score card in managing the gains of his electoral successes, such critics have not been able to offer credible alternatives to issues, values or norms of political governance they openly criticize.

He explained that “in as much as views are free, facts are sacred and the truth remains constant and the infantile effusion of the army of opposition are merely to receive regular media attention and seek cheap political relevance” .

The highly vocal labour activist and Human Rights lawyer, listed the improvement in the areas of power genenration, road network and general infrastructure as indices of President Jonathan’s  good governance.

He has therefore contended that such a President should be supported by all and sundry.
