The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed deep concern about the worsening spate of security stance in northern Nigeria, particularly the North East. The Forum said that the multi- dimensional challenges now include cattle rustlers, armed robbery, kidnapping and assassination besides the well known Boko Haram insurgency.
It also noted that the incessant communal clashes in Benue, Plateau and Nasarawa states have helped in eroding the mutual relationship in the North.
In a press release by the National Publicity Secretary, Muhammad Ibrahim ,the forum said that the presence of the military in affected areas have not substantially reduced insurgency but incurred avenue for corruption, extortion and inhuman treatment of the civilian population.
Meanwhile, the ACF has condemned the suspension of the Central Bank (CBN) Govenor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi because the FG did not wait for the outcome of the senate on his allegation of $20 billion against the NNPC which he is a principal witness.ACF also pointed out that he can only be removed by two-thirds vote of the senate.
