The formal launch of the global body, the Entrepreneurs’ Organisation, EO, Nigeria Chapter, comes up on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the Sheraton Lagos Hotels and Towers, Ikeja, Lagos at 9a.m.
The event which will be attended by State governors, ministers, Captains of Industry, entrepreneurs and others will also draw many participants from outside the country especially from the global headquarters of the body in Virginia, the United States of America, USA. It will be rounded up with a dinner later in the evening at the same venue.
Founded in 1987, in Virgina, USA by a group of 22 young entrepreneurs, the EO has grown in the last 25 years to include more than 8,700 business owners scattered in 121 chapters and 41 countries across the globe.
The 121st Chapter was launched last week in Istanbul, Turkey on September 19, 2012. The launch of the Lagos Chapter brings the global spread of the organisation to 122 chapters in 42 countries.
Prior to this, only two Chapters-Johannesburg, and Cape Town Chapters in South Africa-had existed in the whole of the African Continent. Nigeria will be the first country to host the global assembly in the West African Sub-Region. This will bring the total EO Chapters in Africa to three.
As a global business owner network and association, EO helps to transform the lives of entrepreneurs who transform the world. It educates, transforms, inspires and offers invaluable resources in the form of events, leadership development programmes, an online entrepreneur forum and business owner education opportunities, among other resources designed for business growth.
EO enables small and large business owners to learn from each other, leading to greater business success and an enriched personal life. The organisation also sponsors the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA), the premier award programme for undergraduate students that own and run businesses while attending a college or university. The other is called the Accelerator, a series of quarterly, high-impact learning events designed to provide top business owners with the tools, knowledge and skills they need to grow their businesses.
This year, EO is celebrating its 25th Anniversary with events around the world, which will highlight the growth of the entrepreneurial network and its role in the lives of its members everywhere.
A statement by Dele Agekameh, the director of communications said with the birth of the EO in Nigeria, the pioneer members who are just 12 in number, have successfully put the country on the global map of entrepreneurs after 25 years of the existence of this valuable global body.
