ENSG moves to restore water supply to Enugu residents

Enugu State Government has assured residents that it would soon restore water supply to Enugu metropolis after a damage to electricity supply poles to the Oji River Water Scheme.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Water Supply, Mrs Felicia Ikpeama, gave the assurance in Enugu on Thursday.

Ikpeama said this after she inspected damaged electric poles and cables destroyed by an articulated vehicle conveying cement at Oji River.

She said that power had been the major challenge delaying water supply in the state.

The governor’s aide also urged households affected by the incident to exercise patience as Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) had commenced the installation of poles and cables at the area.

Also, the Managing Director of Enugu State Water Corporation, Mr Chidozie Eze, who led the inspection team, said the government had been working tirelessly to ensure steady water supply to the people of Enugu.

Eze, however, expressed regrets over the inconveniences caused to residents by the temporary cut in power supply and assured that water supply would resume as soon as the EEDC restored power. (NAN)
