Lionel Messi lived up to expectation as he scored a hat trick to lift Argentina to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Star –studded Argentina had faced the risk of missing out of Russia as they occupied the 6th place in their group before the last match.A loss against Ecuador would have denied the country a place.
It was however a day Messi took up the gauntlet and delivered for his country with three goals .
With the victory, Argentina’s Messi will join Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo to showcase their star power in Russia.
Though Ronaldo did not score, his Portugal team mates recorded two goals in their last match to book a spot in Russia 2018.
With these victories, the fear that Messi and Ronaldo may miss out of Russia 2018 has been allayed.And next year’s football tournament promises to be exciting.
