Mark, Atiku congratulate Wamakko

President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, has sent a message of congratulation to the governor-elect of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko on his election at    Saturday’s governorship polls.

Senator Mark in the message to the new helmsman of the Caliphate State noted  that the election was a manifestation of the peoples’ trust and confidence in the leadership of Wamakko.

He therefore implored the governor-elect and his team to map out strategies for the overall transformation of the State adding that his re-election should be seen as a platform to further strengthen the peaceful co-existence and unity within the State and beyond.

While encouraging the governor-elect to bring everybody on board in the task of developing the State, he, in like manner urged the losers in the election to accept the result in good fate and cooperate with the winner in the interest of the people of the State.

According to Mark, “You have all done your best and the majority of the people of Sokoto State have decided. Besides, only one governor will be on sit at a time. All hands  must be on deck in order to consolidate the gains of the past and move the State to greater height.”

He told Wamakko to build on his past foundation that would improve on the infrastructural development of the entire State.

Also,former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has congratulated Aliyu Magatarkada Wamakko, the governor-elect of Sokoto State on his victory at the Sokoto gubernatorial election over the weekend.

In a statement of felicitation, made available to the media in Abuja ,the former number two citizen said of Wamakko “the people of Sokoto State are lucky to have you and I am very lucky to have you as a very close friend.”

Atiku described Wamakko’s victory as well deserved. “Even when it did not come to me as a surprise. I have known you as a man of the people and your development-centered brand of politics has put you ahead of your contemporaries. This has manifested so well in your margin of victory,” he said.

According to the former Vice President “That you (Wamakko) won this election, scoring more than seventy percent of the total votes cast goes to show that in politics nothing pays like doing the will of the people.”

He urged other politicians to learn a lesson from “the good things happening in Sokoto” adding“I am happy that within four years you went through three elections and you have got better with each challenge.”
