An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded a 25-year-old man, Ayegbusi Sunday, in prison over alleged burglary and stealing.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, is being tried for burglary and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Monica Ikebuilo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Nov. 27 between 04:00hrs and 05:20 hrs at the Reform Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Inisa St., Odo-Ado in Ado-Ekiti.
She alleged that the defendant burgled the Reform Cherubim and Seraphim Church, with intent to commit felony, to wit burglary and stealing.
The prosecutor also said that the defendant stole a Techno phone valued at N4, 300 belonging to one Ayeni Gabriel, one Itel phone valued at N5,500 belonging to one Oladunjoye Idowu, and one Techno Android phone valued at N15,000 belonging to one Olufemi Marvelous.
According to her, the offences contravened Sections 415 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant in prison, pending legal advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The plea of the accused was, therefore, not taken.
The Magistrate, Mrs Omolola Akosile, ordered that the defendant should be remanded in prison custody, pending advice from the DPP’s Office.
Akosile adjourned the case until Dec. 20, for mention. (NAN)
