Ondo communities threaten BEDC with mass protest over power outage

Residents of Irese, Aaye and Ikota towns in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State have threatened to shut down the office of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) in Akure.

This is contained in a letter addressed to the Regional Manager, BEDC, Akure, on Friday and signed by traditional ruler of the area, the Olurese of Irese land, Oba Ahmed Destiny Saka.

Osinbajo inaugurates world’s 1st equatorial aeronomy radar

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has inaugurated the Virginia Tech. Nigerian Bowen Equatorial Aeronomy Radar (VT-NigerBEAR) at Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State.
Performing the inauguration on Friday at the institution’s premises, Osinbajo said it was the first and currently the only deployment of an equatorial-low-latitude SuperDARN in the world.

Rivers: NYSC commends Wike’s support

Army decorates newly promoted officers, tasks them on dedication

The Director-General, Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), retired Maj.-Gen. Wahab Garba on Friday decorated two newly promoted officers from the rank of Major to Lieutenant Colonel.

The two officers were the Military Assistant to the NARC DG, Lt.-Col. Yahaya Shimfe and and Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations for the centre, Lt.-Col. Felicia Daniel.

FG vows to boost domestic production, exports

The Federal Government on Friday restated its commitment to improving the trade environment to boost domestic production and exports.

President Muhammadu Buhari, said this at the 36th edition of the Lagos International Trade Fair (LITF) organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).

The president, represented by the minister, Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, said the government would continue to support all initiatives to encourage domestic production and exports.

Police pledge to rescue 21 Katsina kidnapped teenagers

The Police Command in Katsina State says it is making efforts to rescue the 21 teenagers abducted from a farmland in Mairuwa, Faskari Local Government area of the state.
The victims, who are mostly between the age of 16 and 21, were kidnapped on Oct. 4, 2022.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isa, said that the police were on the trail of the abductors.
