President Jonathan

Professor Cyriacus Njoku, a  PDP presidential aspirant  who  is in court  challenging   President Goodluck Jonathan’s alleged 3rd Term Bid in 2015 has faulted the presidential  statement issued by Dr Reuben Abati  at the weekend.

Jonathan had warned politicians  to stop overheating the polity over 2015 campaigns. He also disowned anyone campaigning for him because that is not his priority now.

But Njoku seems to believe that even the president’s statement was unnecessary “I believe we should allow the Court to decide on the 2015 matter now before a judge of the Abuja High Court. Even though I concede that Nigerians have Freedom of Expression to make comments, we should be patient to allow the Abuja High Court determine once and for all the issue.

Njoku said in  statement today  “My attention has been drawn to yesterday’s press statement over comments by Nigerians on the alleged 3rd Term bid of President Jonathan. I quote him in part . ““The pointless, diversionary and very distractive hue and cry about the President’s alleged ambition to seek a second term in office is becoming increasingly disturbing by the day with headlines such as “JONATHAN’S 2015 AMBITION CAN BREAK UP NIGERIA” and “JONATHAN’S 2015 AMBITION FUELING INSECURITY,” now regular fare in our newspapers and on the internet”.

He said contrary to the presidential statement “I am yet to come across any such headlines by any paper that Jonathan 2015 ambition can break up Nigeria or that it is fuelling insecurity.I think Dr.Reuben Abati should be more accurate by pointing at the particular Newspaper or E-media and the date of such publication.”

PRESS RELEASE BY PROFESSOR CYRIACUS NJOKU PDP PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANT FOR 2015 OVER PRESS STATEMENT BY DR.REUBEN ABATI

My attention has been drawn to yesterday’s press statement over comments by Nigerians on the alleged 3rd Term bid of President Jonathan.

I am yet to come across any such headlines by any paper that Jonathan 2015 ambition can break up Nigeria or that it is fuelling insecurity.

I think Dr.Reuben Abati should be more accurate by pointing at the particular Newspaper or E-media and the date of such publication.

Over all I believe we should allow the Court to decide on the 2015 matter now before a judge of the Abuja High Court. Even though I concede that Nigerians have Freedom of Expression to make comments, we should be patient to allow the Abuja High Court determine once and for all the issue.
