10th Anniversary: Northern Govs Extol Etsu Nupe’s Leadership Qualities

etsu_nupeThe Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) has felicitated with the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji (Dr) Yahaya Abubakar, who would be celebrating his 10th year coronation anniversary on Wednesday, describing the monarch as a man of peace and a rare patriot who has been playing a leading role in ensuring religious tolerance and unity amongst the diverse tendencies that cohabit his domain.

In a tribute to the Etsu Nupe, Chairman of the forum and Governor of Niger State, Dr Mu’azu
Babangida Aliyu said Etsu Yahaya’s ten years on the throne has brought tremendous progress and modernization to the Nupe Kingdom.
“It is worthy of note that since Etsu Yahaya – a man of peace and a rare patriot, an accomplished Army General and consummate administrator mounted the throne of his forefathers, the monarch has been playing a leading role in ensuring peace, unity and tolerance amongst the diverse tendencies that cohabit his domain and even beyond,” the forum said in a statement signed by Governor Aliyu’s Chief Press Secretary, Danladi Ndayebo.
The forum notedthat since Dr Yahaya’s coronation in 2003, violence, whether sectarian or
otherwise, was a rare occurrence in the entire Nupe Kingdom spanning through Niger, Kwara and Kogi States, where Christians and Muslims co-habit in peace, thanks to the fatherly role of the Etsu Nupe.
The forum emphasized that the ten years of Dr Yahaya Abubakar’s kingship has brought positive development and modernization to Nupeland.
“It is gratifying to see how the Etsu Nupe has been building bridges across ethnic, religious and socio-cultural divides, helping to bring together his people, irrespective of their political differences or whether or not they were in the so-called political mainstream or in the opposition,’’ the forum said.
The forum prayed God to grant the Etsu Nupe excellent health, courage and many more years
of service to Nigeria and humanity.
