A lot has happened
in Nigeria since the disappearance of
President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua on the
23rd November 2009. We are indeed
haplessly managing an assembly line of
historical events; from the moment the
ailing president was literarily carried
into the presidential jet it became
obvious that this particular medical
pilgrimage to the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia would mark the beginning of an
end to a Yar’Adua presidency but no one
truly anticipated the twists and turns
we’ve had to meander through in the
search for normalcy and the
justification of our constitution. The
call by the group of 53 for the
president to resign or hand over to his
vice president as early as December 2009
was the first clear, direct and clinical
expression of the will of Nigerians to
not wait for an imminent but avoidable
crisis. The call of the G53 though
initially misunderstood was a bellow of
discontentment, signifying a widespread
censure of the tendencies of a minority
cult that was flexing its muscles in
preparation for a nasty brawl with
adherents of the constitutional.
Being part of a
wanton kitchen cabinet, they knew the
true state of the president. They knew
only a medical or some kind of miracle
could see him through his predicament
and return him to his coveted office.
They knew of course that Nigeria is
blessed with pro-active men and women
who are committed to watching over the
state of their nation at home and
abroad.
Thus they put their
stock in fabrications and delay tactics
that would eventually ridicule the
nation and the decorous earnest
hardworking men and women who give their
all in their chosen endeavors to grow
this country, defend her honour, bring
her laurels and ultimately make life
better for the man next door. The
seeming normalcy in the businesses of
government and other sectors of our
national life are, in my opinion,
symptoms of the shock we are going
through as a nation.
I mean, let’s run
this together: a nurse with absolutely
no experience in administration and zero
political skills unscrupulously jumps on
her husband’s back, grabs the reins of
the executive cart and rides on like the
cart was her domestic appliance...An
attorney general of the federation turns
himself into a zombie by refusing to
disentangle himself from the strings
that manipulate his steps in a
preposterous illicit dance with law.
Where in the world
does this man find the courage to
humiliate his learned self publicly to
please a couple of reprobates who have
absolutely no sense of honour? How can a
man run the motor of his life off the
bend without any consideration for his
family and friends who should be of
course be embarrassed by his
unrestrained behavior. An autocratic
zealot who audaciously imposes on a
nation an invalid and a docile-go-lucky
Johnny man now claims innocence invoking
a curse on his troubled life, the
national assembly wobbles and fumbles in
denial on a needlessly prolonged process
in defense of our constitution...the PDP
affirms the fact that it is shamefully
Africa's bulkiest political nuisance..
Confronted with
these embarrassments, Nigerians rose up
in their millions. From Abuja, London,
Lagos, Kiev, Adelaide and finally New
York we rose up in one voice insisting
"Enough is Enough". Of particular
interest was the simultaneous nature of
the protest in four continents!
Nigerians in Diaspora leaving the warm
comforts of their home in what can now
be said to be forced exile, stormed the
streets in unbearable cold weather. Not
since the days of the June 12 movement
and the anti Abacha campaigns have
Nigerians so unanimously decided to rise
up and fight for the honour of their
nation.
However like every
Nigerian resistance the cabal will
always play a smart move; it is what I
call the "point and kill" method. Almost
every member of the ruling elite who not
only benefits from the illegitimacy of
the situation we have at hand now are
calling on President Musa Yar’Adua to
resign, of particular interest is the
"memo of the decade" written by the
minister for information Dora Akunyuli.
Certainly some Nigerians in dire need
for a hero or heroine as the case may be
are hailing Dora.
The elders and many
others who where meant to speak for the
people but chose the path of silence as
the latter day saviours; as if Nigerians
need the voice of those who have over
the years been involved in the
maladministration and macabre dance to
legitimise their genuine call for
liberation. This fight is being fought
and won by the people in the streets.
This war is waged by oppressed people
who would rather die fighting than sit
back and watch their great country
suffer disrespect and indignity. And
hello Nigerian! We have just commenced a
movement to retake our country from
certified lunatics. If Nigerian concedes
the revolution to the same evil people
then we could as well go to bed and be
satisfied with the inhuman way of life.
A notice must be given to Goodluck
Jonathan, electoral reform in its
entirety, accountability and a
responsive government, Mrs. Goodluck
must get a message that we did not call
for another Turai in Aso Rock we call
for a total change. As we pray for
Yar’Adua we also hope the Peoples
Destructive Party will take note of the
determination of Nigerians to occupy the
streets in every continent in 2011 and
reclaim our God chosen dignity. It is
not yet victory it is the genesis of a
biblical journey to our revelation.
The time for
vigilance is now, the scheme by the
belated call of the governors forum on
Vice President Jonathan Goodluck to
assume the office of the president in
acting capacity should be seen for what
it is; the gathering of hypocrites, the
servants who where trusted by the people
to speak for them chose to speak for
their pockets and selfish interest until
it became clear that the handwriting was
on the wall.
The governor’s
forum, national assembly and all those
who were involved in the cover up should
search their conscience if they still
have any left; how on earth did they
allow a small cabal led by an
unrestraint ambitious Turai and Michael
Aondoka hold Nigerians in captivity? and
the distrustful Bukola Saraki of Kwara
state who are nothing but foot soldiers
of that very cabal should note that as a
people We have fought, we are still
fighting, we have won some, we will
still win more.
