Mark Condoles Gov. Amaechi over fuel calamity
President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has commiserated with the government and people of Rivers State over what he described as unfortunate deaths of over 100 citizens in a fuel inferno at Okobe, Ahoada West local government area of the state on Thursday.
Senator Mark in a condolence message to the Rivers state governor Chief Rotimi Amaechi lamented the loss of precious lives in a circumstance that should ordinarily be handled otherwise.
The President of the Senate however advised that adequate measures should be taken to offer medical assistance no matter the cost implication to save the lives of survivors in the hospitals.
He urged governments at all levels and corporate organizations to help carry out enlightenment programmes especially in the handling of sensitive products such as fuel or corrosives saying that ” what happened in Okobe , Ahoada could be traceable to ignorance because I do not believe that people would go and embrace death if they knew the consequences.”
Senator Mark implored the governor of Rivers state and the bereaved family to be steadfast in prayer to bear the irreparable loss.
