The Chibok Community in Borno State ,North East Nigeria has expressed appreciation to President Goodluck Jonathan for sending one of his ministers to meet with them on Thursday in Maiduguri.
This message of appreciation was contained in a press release signed by Hajiya Hauwa Chibok on Friday.
She said “I write to thank president Goodluck Jonathan for sending one of his ministers,Mohammed Wakil to symphatise with us and assure us over our missing daugthers. Mallam Wakil briefed us on the security efforts and we appreciate.
The statement said further, “The minister met us about 10pm on Thursday morning in Maiduguri. He was with us for two hours . We prayed together for our daughters and we pray for the military.
“On behalf of our people ,we convey our appreciation for the visit. We pray God to bless the efforts of our military.”
The statement came a day facts emerged that President Jonathan had also delegated Minister of Finance,Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala to represent him at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new school in Chibok town.
The kidnap of over 200 Chibok girls last year by Boko Haram led to a global outrage as the #BringBackOurGirls campaign gained global attraction.
President Jonathan has not yet visited Chibok and the foundation laying ceremony could have been a major ‘Global Public Relations coup’ which the president has again fluffed.
Okonjo- Iweala tweeted pictures of her meeting with the principal of the Chibok school. She was also surrounded by parents (especially mothers) of the missing school girls .
The pictures will surely go viral on the social media for a long time.
