The Speaker of the Parliament of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS Parliament, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, is to lead a parliamentary delegation on a two-day working visit to Guinea Bissau, starting from Friday.

Senator Ekweremadu who is also the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate said the visit would enable the Community Parliament to assess the level of progress in the efforts towards restoring full democratic order in the West African nation.

“The survival of democracy in Guinea Bissau is important to the sub-region and we believe that a firsthand assessment of the political situation in the West African country would help to guide our parliamentary interventions and support towards the restoration of total constitutional order in country”, he emphasized.
