Gov Oshiomhole Appoints Yakubu Aliyu, former Editor, New Nigerian as Principal Secretary

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state has announced his first set of appointments after taking the oath of office for a second term.The list of Oshiomhole’s appointees includes Yakubu Aliyu , who is the new Principal Secretary to the governor.Aliyu is a former editor of Kaduna-based New Nigerian newspapers .Until his appointment, he was President, Abuja- based non-governmental organization ,Community Action for Popular Particiation ,CAPP.
Aside from his background in journalism, Aliyu also goes into Oshiomhole’s government with his insight into civil society activism and intellectual prowess especially his familiarity with economic matters .Those close to him also attest to his rich knowledge of how government works.
Oshiomhole also named Honourable Patrick Obahiagbon as his new Chief of Staff.Obahiagbon replaces Mr Osarodion Ogie.Also, the governor has appointed Professor Julius Ihonvbere as the new Secretary to the Edo State Government,SSG.The professor of political science replaces Dr. Simon Imuekemhe.
Mr. Peter Okhiria and Princess Theresa Erediauwa have retained their posts as Chief Press Secretary and Executive Director, Millennium Development Goals (MDG respectively.
Oshiomhole had dissolved his cabinet before his inauguration for a second term.
Oshiomhole’s first principal private secretary ,Olaitan Oyerinde was murdered in Benin just as the campaigns for the last elections in the state were gathering momentum.Attempts by the security agencies to fish out his killers have been shrouded in controversy so far.
