Court of Appeal declares Kayode  Fayemi  Ekiti state governor –elect

Newsdiaryonline    Friday Oct 15, 2010

The court of Apeal panel sitting in Ilorin this afternoon  ruled that Kayode Fayemi of the Action Congress of Nigeria,ACN is the duly elected governor of Ekiti state

This brings to an end one of the ugliest chapters in Nigeria’s tale of election rigging after the 2007 general elections..A rerun of the election in some parts of the state in  2009  was was so mindlessly  rigged that it was too glaring that the PDP had lost, but the ruling power which

Kayode Fayemi: Winner

was in charge of the high drama did not surrender power.

In fact, Mrs  Ayoka Adebayo ,the Ekiti State Electoral Commissioner at that time resigned and went into hiding  because according  to her, she could not do anything against her conscience; but she was later  prevailed upon to reverse her resignation .And   she was obviously  assisted to rule that Segun Oni of PDP had won the election. But Fayemi insisted on pursuing the case further until he got justice today.

With this ruling Oni ceases to be the governor and the number  of ACN governors has become- Lagos ,Edo and now Ekiti states .Interestingly  the ACN victories in Edo and  Ekiti came after court pronouncements that  sent PDP packing from  the states.
