ribadunewA group of Christian clergy, Christian Coalition Against Corruption (CCAC) has on Thursday presented an award on integrity and anti-corruption to the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
Presenting the award at a seminar on anticorruption held at Welcome Centre Hotel, Lagos, CCAC president, Bishop Francis Shopekan, said the award was presented to Ribadu in recognition of his “undeniable impact in the fight against corruption, injustice, oppression and molestation in the country”.
Eulogising the former anticorruption czar, the Bishop noted that Ribadu’s “fight for good governance, your credibility and integrity, your commitment to this nation, efficient, discipline and exemplary leadership skill distinguish you over the years”.
While commending Mallam Ribadu’s humanitarian works and service to the country, Bishop Shopekan prayed for God’s protection and blessings for Ribadu and all honest Nigerians.
In his response, Mallam Ribadu applauded the clergy for taking up the fight against corruption saying clerics have a huge role to play in combating corruption from all sectors of Nigeria’s socio-economic and political life.
The former EFCC boss, who was represented by Hon. Bello Malabu, stressed that in addition to good and credible leadership, individual conduct is essential in the fight against corruption.
He therefore charged both Christian and Muslim clerics to lead the fight through personal exemple and preaching to their congregations.
