Atiku shell-shocked over Lagos plane crash, Bauchi bombings…Fani-Kayode mourns
In a statement by his Media Office in Abuja, Atiku Abubakar condoled with the families of the deceased in the Dana Air crash in Lagos, those of the Bauchi suicide bombing and the earlier crash involving a Nigerian cargo plane in Accra on Saturday.
He said that it is unimaginable that the country could be visited with these tragedies that have left many families bruised and broken. He conveyed his condolences to the people and government of Nigeria over the deaths from the tragedies.
He, however, charged rescue and emergency services personnel to ensure that everything is done to save the lives of those who needed to be saved while urging all well meaning Nigerians to rally round the families of all those who may have been affected by the Black Sunday tragedies and the crash in Accra on Saturday.
According to him, it is our collective duty as Nigerians to help the affected families deal with their losses.
He suggested that the Accident Investigation unit of the relevant agencies should immediately commence an inquiry to get to the root cause of the Dana Air crash in order to forestall future occurrences.
In brief statement ,former Minister of Aviation,Femi Fani-Kayode said”A Dana Air commercial aircraft from Abuja to Lagos just crashed around Iju in Lagos with about 153 passengers onboard. This is so sad. All that blood and life just wasted. Aviation is the sector I presided over. I know it inside out and now I am in pain. May the souls of those that died in that crash rest in peace.”
