AMAC Polls:Okorie Flags off Campaigns ,says ‘Power belongs unto God’

Candidate for the United Progressive Party, UPP, Chambas Okorie, for the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, has flagged off campaign in the Abuja Municipal Area Council saying “Power belongs unto God and democracy is all about stewardhip.”

He said that the distribution of salt, items for soup seasoning by some candidates was not the expectation of Abuja Residents, instead the politicians should show the transformers, roads, healthcare services and water projects planned or delivered upon.

Chambas who said these when he addressed the press at the UPP office in Abuja before the takeoff of the campaign train through the city and 12 wards of the FCT pointed out that the United Progressive Party, UPP is offering the people of the FCT peace and progress in line with the desire of the Nigerian people.

He said that the challenge in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT was that of good leadership that would improve on the life of the citizens and residents of the FCT who would come out to invested their time and vote for the chairmanship of the FCT to deliver on the mandate with which he has been entrusted.

According to him, the FCT residence of the federal Capital Territory are interested in the development of the new chairman who would deliver on roads, health care services, power in the case of deployment of transformers etc.

He maintained that the development of the Abuja Municipal Area Council rested on the provision of the critical infrastructure by the seating council executive to ensure that the resident have a conducive environment to develop their individual business.

He maintained that the UPP is exploring the inactive voters who have been ignored in the past but have a say in the electorate to decide the vote of the chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council.

Chambas said that he was encouraged by the fact that the people in various communities of the 12 wards of the FCT received them positively and expressed confidence in the candidature of Chambas Okorie and Danladi Iliya for the next council election.

He commended the other contestant for the maturity in the election so far especially as they have not been engaged in campaign of calumny as it was recorded in other parts of the FCT.

He noted that the less than five percent of the total population of the FCT voted in the 2010 election, this development places a lot of burden on the politicians are agents of mobilization to reach out to these ignored voters to come out and vote for the UPP for peace and progress in the FCT.

He noted that the UPP will contribute to the development to the FCDA by engaging on development of roads and other infrastructure so that the people will have confidence on the FCTA, The AMAC and the leadership of the council for the needed transformation of the FCTA.
