The Federal Government has followed with excitement the steady progress of the Golden Eaglets in the going Under 17 FIFA World Cup.

The government is so far delighted over the exploits, discipline of the boys and the artistry in the field of play.

The government has also noted with enthusiasm the exhibition of uncommon Nigerian spirit by the team to overcome all obstacles and achieve positive result.

This was demonstrated clearly last night at the Abuja National Stadium when the team defeated New Zealand with 5 goals to nothing to move to the Quarter finals. 

The performance of the Golden Eaglet has lifted the spirit of all Nigerians at home and abroad especially given the not-so-impressive performances of other national teams like the Flying Eagles and Super Eagles in their recent international engagements.

The government wishes to congratulate the Golden Eaglets, the coaching crew and other officials for a job well done.  The government wishes to appeal to all Nigerians to

rally-round the team and its officials to ensure that the Under 17 World Cup is won by the team for Africa and retained in Nigeria.
